The Institute for Economics and Peace (IEP) has undertaken in depth financial analysis that proves beyond doubt that the most prosperous countries in terms of financial reward as well as quality of life are peaceful. The IEP has quantified an index of factors which constitute a violent society, and ranks every country in the world.
The IEP itself is a non-profit think tank dedicated to shifting the world’s focus to peace as a positive, achievable, and tangible measure of human well-being and progress.
It achieves its goals by developing new conceptual frameworks to define peacefulness; providing metrics for measurement; uncovering the relationship between peace, business and prosperity, and by promoting a better understanding of the cultural, economic and political factors that drive peacefulness.
OLA uses this data to build fora to promote the principles of a stable society.
“Terrorism doesn’t arise on its own; by identifying the factors associated with it, long term policies can be implemented to improve the underlying environment that nurtures terrorism. The most significant actions that can be taken are to reduce state-sponsored violence, reduce group grievances and hostilities, and improve effective and community-supported policing.” Steve Killelea
